U. S. Bank is seeking a detailed oriented Financial Systems Developer to support the Finance Divisions Data Warehouse and Applications (FDW & OFSA). Manage the design, development, maintenance of existing and new data feeds into the Data Warehouse. These data feeds provide the information needed to support bank-wide Basel initiatives, Regulatory Reporting initiatives, and any new elements needed for the Bank's new reporting application software (Axiom). Interpret and write functional/technical design documents and ensure the data quality within the warehouse.

The Developer will own the data feed from development through testing and into Production, including ongoing support - some of which may occur off-hours (On-call support). Furthermore, the position requires strong technical skills using MS Access, MS Excel and SQL. It will involve querying information from a data warehouse, writing PL/SQL for data manipulation and performing other ad-hoc data mining, profiling and financial analysis. Specific duties could include some of the following:

  • Gaining a working knowledge of business needs in order to write business requirements for new interfaces.
  • Research and analyze the financial data of the bank in order to determine best problem-solving approach.
  • Working with other programmers and reviewing their technical design document.
  • Data warehousing (Creating Oracle tables and loading test files using Oracle SQL Loader.)
  • Testing the data. A critical component of which includes reconciling data to General Ledger information. Proficiency in Microsoft desk tools such as Excel and Access are required.
  • Documenting test issues and re-testing until bugs are worked out and data reconciles.
  • Writing Oracle procedures (PL/SQL) to refine the data and add other Managerial Reporting data including Transfer Pricing and Basel/Economic Equity calculations, and data quality checks.
  • Sharing in monitoring month-end close activities, including those months when month-end occurs on weekends.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required in MIS, CIS, CS, Statistics, Math, Accounting, Finance or Economics
  • Zero to two years of experience in financial systems technology and analysis

  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Desire to produce accurate, high-quality work
  • Proficiency in Microsoft desk tools such as Excel and Access.
  • Preferred knowledge or skill in SQL, PL/SQL, and TOAD for Oracle.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deliver results on aggressive deadlines.
  • Requires excellent communication skills - written and oral.
  • Perform critical thinking and data analysis.
  • Developing/reviewing complex queries.
  • Experience with Essbase a plus.
  • Skill in Project Management a plus to aid in managing their projects.
  • Experience with an ETL tool a plus.
  • Strong analytical and data profiling skills.
  • Understanding in work flow analysis, system testing (Agile) a plus.
  • Understanding in requirements and functional design analysis and system development life cycle.
  • Data warehousing, data structures, and data quality assurances testing.
  • Experience with SQL, SQL Loader, PL/SQL, and developing/reviewing complex queries.
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CIS, CS, Statistics, Math, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of experience in Financial Systems technology.
