PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Lead supplier development and strategic sourcing for multiple electro-mechanical component categories with the goal of supplier evaluation and selection, achieving year over year cost savings and driving continuous improvement in supplier quality. Sustain category expertise through an understanding of supply markets and trends, cost drivers and internal business impact.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work cross functionally with multiple stakeholders (R&D, Operations, Quality) to select and qualify suppliers of electro-mechanical raw materials
  • Lead supplier selection, evaluation, negotiation and supplier management strategies. Ensure suppliers have the required competency to deliver products that meets specs, with the required accuracy and repeatability
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize component specs that are manufacturable at the required quality and cost
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key spend categories: internal assessment of current and future spend requirements; assessment of supply market; understand supplier economics; assess total cost of ownership
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop cost reduction strategies and implementation plans that meet business needs
  • Manage supplier performance including supply assurance, balanced scorecards and continuous improvement plans
  • Analyze best cost country sourcing and develop strategy: Identify sourcing opportunities; evaluate supply base and understand supply market complexities
  • Lead cross-functional projects requiring changes to suppliers or supply base
  • Lead and develop risk management strategies to increase awareness and implement appropriate risk mitigation plans, such as dual sourcing
  • Drive annual cost savings in each spend category. Develop multi-year savings pipeline and associated implementation plan
  • Create and implement a continuous improvement sourcing approach for key electro-mechanical spend categories
  • Drive sourcing best practices across company for assigned spend categories. Ensure compliance to all policies and procedures and maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations

  • EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. MBA and/or CPM preferred
  • Ten or more years of techno-commercial Sourcing experience
  • Experience in high-volume electro-mechanical industries preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in developing global supply chains
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing sourcing strategies for electro-mechanical components that have yielded measurable business results
  • Demonstrated ability to reduce raw material cost through effecting negotiation skill
